Considering how much of the series has been planned ahead of time, I suspect that it means the original volume 16 and 17 are still going to happen, so they will probably get shifted over to volume 17 and 18. This is just a guess, the author could easily trim some stuff, so who knows. Took author freaking 2 years to get vol 15 out.The last Japanese light novel (14) came out March 2020. My guess is movie will be announced this spring or summer and come out in Fall or early 2024. Light Novel won't probably be announced until after the movie comes out. Unfortunately he won't be continuing Overlord but it's still likely that we'll get more than 17 books because maruyama tends to write more than he intended at first for example volume 12 & 13 were supposed to be a single book.If ST gets off screen then I feel like a scene like this would be for the prologue of volume 17. The story isn't ending with vol 17. Volume 18 is supposed to be the last volume (well at least if the next books won't be split / if Maruyama doesn't change his mind).
