Correction- Embers works for indoor pits and smaller outdoor pits, but the bigger ones it does not work for some reason. Either way after extensive testing I've determined Inferno redux v 5.1 combined with the kd firewood mods and embers hd is the best combo for me.Anychance you can copy the mesh changes and apply them to an embers hd version.
