1,237. May 3, 2023. #1. I had posted about using cotton balls as over-powder wads. I had gotten the info off another Traditional ML Forum. I have been trying them out of my T/C Hawken .45 with prb's. I have tried 35 gr/40 gr/45 gr/50 gr of T7 3 f. Very poor group size. So i was/am using .012 flannel patch material n recovered patches are fine.

Had some problems with misfires initially. Would misfire after 8-10 shots Proabably due to primer crud building up in the "rolling block" mechinism.Blackhorn 209 powder instock is a low residue, high performance propellant made for muzzleloaders and black powder cartridges. It is engineered. 5lbs for $300. That comes out to $3.75 an ounce. This is too good to be true. It may be a scam. 1,718. May 12, 2023. #6. I've had a number (LARGE number) of flintlocks over the years, but have finally settled on my .50 Renegade. Nicely proportioned, good weight ( helps with recoil) accurate and built like a Russian tractor. While set triggers are nice, they do add to lock time. It's trigger to set to sear trip.

1) Not all are bores are off center. 2) The QLA IS cut in the center: When an uncentered bore doesn't line up there is a bigger space on one side of the bullet as it enters the QLA. Therefore more gas passes the bullet on that side of the barrel kicking the bullet sideways. Sabots pictures really show how that happens.

I bought a 1/4-28 Mag-Spark adapter for 209 primers, and thought I might try it out on some of my sidelock rifles. However, primers are almost as hard to find as percussion caps right now. I did find a reputable dealer (Midsouth) who has Cheddite 209 primers for what I thought was a reasonable price in today's dollars.
