Jul 3, 2021 · Almo. Seems like the clunking is from the drive shaft into the rear end. Like when it starts to spin, it's engaging the gears and clunking. Rotate it hard one way, then the other, you will hear the clunking noise. I put a clutch kit in with a stiffer secondary spring, and that helped considerably.

On the front drive shaft it has to have 2 U joints. That play on the propshaft your talking about is normal . If the u rear u joint has play that might be the cause for the clunking.
