Yes you need to switch it out, and I haven't seen drastic amounts of wear on my OEM mags. I still use the OEM in my range rotation, but carry the S15's. About 1K rounds downrange and the OEM mags have maybe 1 thou of plastic deformation. Started with an AL catch, but just upgraded to Steel. Both from SA as well.
